Hatzenport

Wine-growing region with an optimum climate and interesting history

The sunny town faces south and stretches between the broad Moselle river and abruptly starting vineyard slopes. Its location on an outer curve along the Moselle, the orientation of the vineyards and the unique wind situation creates an ideal climate here for wine growing. The ferry tower, built in 1863, stands proud amidst the impressive village landscape. For more than a century, ferries were guided from Hatzenport to the opposite bank via a rope attached to the tower. A number of paths lead through the forests and vineyards around Hatzenport.
