Burgen

A wine village with a historical past

Burgen is now a state-approved health resort on the beautiful Moselle river. Its first official mention dates back more than 1,000 years. Prior to this time, Romans and Celts inhabited this beautiful countryside for many centuries. The historical, medieval roads and narrow streets invite you to stroll along them. Hiking enthusiasts will find a rural paradise at the mouth of the Baybach river. Tranquillity and relaxation are guaranteed. On the other side of the Moselle, Bischofstein Castle stands proud – at a height of around 190 metres – on a spur that drops steeply on three sides.
