Alken

Largest vineyard on the sunny Lower Moselle

Alken is one of the oldest wine-growing towns in the Moselle region.  Its existence dates back to Celtic and Roman times. The town was inhabited as early as 450 B.C. Thurant Castle is a popular tourist destination here. Perched up high on a hill and close to the vineyards, its beauty is particularly striking. The bordering forest with its streams and valleys is ideal for walking and hiking. You can enjoy hours of peace surrounded by nature here - and often all to yourself. In the town itself, you can discover the traces of medieval times. Alken is worth visiting at any time of year.
