Location and Climate

The Sunny Lower Mosel –the name says it all. Sun-soaked vines enjoy the sun as much as the inhabitants of the Mosel river valley and their guests.
The grapes thrive thanks to the slate in the vineyards storing the warmth of the day and the intense direct sunlight. Low rainfall, a lot of sunshine and a wonderful mild climate all year round – that’s what gets the spirits of the guests of the Sunny Lower Mosel high.
Between Winningen and Burgen and beyond there are terraced steep slopes, which have a gradient angle of about 30 degrees. The vines of these vineyards have the best premises to absorb the sunlight.
Due to its terraced steep slopes the Lower Mosel is often called Terraced Mosel.
